It’s a wrap

The Kate Spade Blog is so much fun. I have so much fun wrapping presents. I can’t imagine how fun it was to wrap this car. Now I really want to drive it!

This is how it goes…

Awesome little vignette, à la strataflora

THE LAND OF NOD & KICKSTARTER

NOTE: I apologize for the amount of times I use the word “awesome” in this post.

I love Personal projects, and sure this one isn’t mine. But a  few days ago I found someone’s awesome Personal Project. It compelled me to write this post because I  truly truly LOVE it and if I had a lot of money$ I would help them much more than whatever measly pledge I can scrounge after my next paycheck. (Note: I do not know these people IRL, but their project sounds super cool!) But alas, I can only pledge so much. So I’m writing this post so that hopefully it might help to spread the word. I mean Who doesn’t what a mural by Andy?*

The Fall

I recently watched The Fall directed by Tarsem Singh. This Film premiered in 2006, and was released in 2008 when presented by David Fincher, and Spike Jonze. AND I only found out about it NOW. Shame, Shame on you. I wish I had learned about it sooner. Because this is now my favorite movie. It is Amazing. Beautiful. Touching. Imaginative. Inspiring. You can really feel the heart and thought that went into this film. There is so much to say about it but so much I can’t say. Because you need to go see this for yourself. Rent it, buy it. Watch it in high quality because it’s so beautiful. If you need more convincing, look at these screenshots and watch the trailer, at the end of post.

A Love of Walls comes hand in hand with

a Love of WALLPAPER.

For me, it all started with PAYTON TURNER and her installations of Sticker Wallpaper.

Wunderkammer: Brimfield Fair

Wunderkammer.

synonymous with Cabinet of Curiousities.

It’s a word that came up in college during a History of Design class. And I have never forgotten it.  It describes these crazy collections that were put together during the Renaissance. Devotion is the fuel of collections. People collect things, even if they aren’t concrete. It’s slightly obsessive. But that’s what’s so compelling about seeing a collection of things. There’s a method to the madness. Collections are a collector’s story. Sometimes these groupings are hard to categorize. But there is a power to them.

These Wunderkammer are snippets from the Brimfield Antiques and Collectibles Show 2011 in Brimfield, MA.
